A routine traffic stop Monday on U.S. 395 near Manzanar led to the arrest of two Southern California residents on suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine through Inyo County on their way to Carson City.
According to the Inyo County Sheriffâs Department, California Highway Patrol officers clocked Victoria Wood, 38, and her passenger Joseph Navetta, 41, both of the Long Beach area, traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour in a silver Jaguar sedan at about 7 a.m. Monday.
Itâs that time of year in the Golden State when legislators argue about how to divvy up dwindling revenues against the wall of a multi-billion dollar deficit.
While legislators propose to raise or lower taxes, schools must still prepare budgets.
Kathrin Eleanore Wilbur
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for Kathrin Eleanore Wilbur. A celebration of her life will follow at the Bishop Elks Lodge, 151 E. Lone St. in Bishop.
Born in March 30, 1925 in San Pedro to Rosanna Laura Henley and Davis Robert Henley, Kathy died peacefully in her sleep with her son David in a bedroom nearby on March 27, 2011 after a courageous, years long battle with emphysema.
Harris Lester Riggins
No funeral services have been announced for 54-year Chalfant resident Harris Lester Riggins. His ashes will be spread by his family.
Born Dec. 22, 1927 to Walter and Dorothy Riggins in Brawley, Harris died of complications from prostate surgery on March 15, 2011. He was 83.
Craig William Firestine
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Craig William Firestine.
Born March 6, 1956, Craig died unexpectedly of natural causes March 20, 2011.
Craig was a simple man with a unique sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Diane and Ron; sister, Cindy; brother, Cameron; and twin nephews, Eugene Ronald and Robert Craig.
Elizabeth Evelyn ‘Eve’ Whisler Brinkley
Funeral services have already been held for Elizabeth Evelyn “Eve” Whisler Brinkley.
Born Aug. 31, 1927, Eve died March 10, 2011. She was 83.
Eve was born in Boston, Mass. After moving west she lived in Nevada, working for the governor. She was a long-time resident of the Owens Valley, working for LADWP. She retired with her family in Austin, Texas.
