Charles ‘Chuck’ Potterville
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Highlands Mobile Home Park Adult Community Building for Charles “Chuck” Potterville.
Born July 25, 1927 in Salida, Colo. to Fred and Jessie Potterville, Chuck died peacefully at his home on Oct. 21, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 83.
Residents are invited to lace up their running or walking shoes and head over to Millpond next weekend for the annual Toiyabe Road Run, an all-ages, all-skill level event designed to celebrate healthy communities.
Those interested in participating in the event have the opportunity to compete in a 10K or 5K road run, or a 1K fun walk Saturday, Nov. 6 at Millpond County Park. And because the event is designed to cater to all ages and all skill levels, everyone has an opportunity to win by predicting their race time, or by being the first to cross the finish line.
Bishop Elementary School is calling out the big dogs â fathers, grandfathers and uncles, the men of families â to bring an extra set of eyes for security and to bring more positive male influences to the classroom and playground.
In an environment dominated by females, school officials are hoping that an increased male presence at the school this year will be to the benefit of all.
âThe buyers are chomping at the bit,â said Realtor Stan Smith of Pleasant Valley Associates, speaking of the new owners of the Cottonwood Plaza.
He said the current owner, Robert Crosby of Bishop, and the buyers, a private party represented by Stacy Bardfield of Mammoth Sierra Properties, are awaiting a report from the Lahontan Regional Water Board before moving ahead.
As requested by the deceased, no services will be held for Carrie Knight.
Born on March 10, 1949 in Pasadena, Carrie died at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Sept. 18, 2010. She was 61.
Norman R. ‘Norm’ Williams
A celebration of life for Norman R. “Norm” Williams will be held at a later date.
Born Jan. 15, 1926, Norm died quietly Oct. 14, 2010 at his son’s home in Bishop surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 84.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 105 N. Mt. Whitney Dr. in Lone Pine for Ralph Voetberg.
Born July 25, 1927 in La Grande, Ore., Ralph died at the Bishop Care Center on Oct. 10, 2010, after suffering a severe stroke on Father’s Day, June 20, 2010. He was 83.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for former Bishop resident Donald Everett Redmon of Mountain Home, Ark.
Born Sept. 25, 1922 in Santa Rosa, Donald died Oct. 13, 2010. He was 88.
Don and his wife Jaylyle relocated from Bishop to Mountain Home in 2003.
Lloyd R. Pettengill
No open services are planned for Bishop Native Lloyd R. Pettengill. 91.
Born in Bishop in 1919, Lloyd moved to Southern California with his family while still a boy, and came back here to live in 1998 to spend his remaining years. He was 91.
He loved the area and loved to go fishing with his double cousin George Meinke.
George Lanyon, Jr.
As requested by family, no services will be held for 43-year Bishop resident George Lanyon, Jr.
Born the first of three children to George and Rose (Anderson) Lanyon on March 12, 1934 in Michigan, George died at his Bishop home Oct. 17, 2010. He was 76.
