Mildred Lorine Eggers Bopp
1915-2010
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, Mo. for Mildred Lorine Eggers Bopp. Mildred’s remains will be laid to rest beside those of her late husband at St. Lucas Cemetery in Sappington, Mo.
Born Sept. 20, 1915, Mildred died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 in Moraga with two of her children at her bedside, 15 days after celebrating her 95th birthday.

The Lone Pine Lady Eagles came away from Mammoth Tuesday still undefeated in Desert Mountain League play after a hard-fought three-game sweep.
The winning scores: 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20.
The Lady Eagles are 6-0 in league play â 15-3-2 overall â and are ranked Number 3 in Division 5AA Volleyball.
âThis was a huge victory, the match was intense from start to finish, this was a typical Mammoth-Lone Pine battle,â said coach Mel Joseph. âLone Pine played outstanding defense. We were able to wear them down mentally by getting the best of their hitters in the end.â
The Bishop High Junior Varsity took a 22-13 loss in its last non-league game against the Bishopâs Knights of La Jolla.
The Knights started strong scoring on their opening drive of Fridayâs game to lead 6-0.
The Broncosâ offense countered with a balanced drive to take a 7-6 lead. Ryan Devore capped the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. Chris Frohreich connected on the point after giving the Broncos the halftime lead.
The Knights recorded 2 TDs in the third quarter, one on a Broncos turnover, grabbing a 22-7 lead.

The Big Pine Warriors volleyball team lost a hard-fought, homecourt battle against the feisty Lee Vining Tigers Tuesday. The Tigers took three of four games but the winning margin in each was no greater than 5 points.
âWe were pretty good,â said coach Angie Argyle, âbut we could have done better. Weâre having trouble finishing matches. We beat Lee Vining in tournament play and should have been able to beat them in league play.â
The Warriors are now 2-4 in league play and 4-6 overall.

Community members are invited to lay all their chips on the table tomorrow night as they bet on a good cause.
The Bishop Elks Lodge will host its annual Casino Night, featuring traditional table games such as poker and craps, and a raffle for a slew of prizes ranging from gift certificates to a weekend get-away.
Residents can head over to the Elks Lodge on East Line Street at 6 p.m. for the event. For $10, the Elks will hand over $100 worth of chips that can be played on any number of tables, including black jack, craps, poker, BINGO and the Wheel of Fortune.

Eastern Sierra business leaders are getting ready to launch off the spring board of the Digital 395 Project that will bring faster Internet connections to Inyo and Mono counties.
The Sierra Business Council and the Sonoran Institute are in the preliminary stages of identifying local economic strengths and weaknesses to take full advantage of the project when the time comes.
âThe timing is right,â said Vickie Taton, Eastern Sierra field representative for Sierra Business Council.

Bishopâs City Council and staff got an ear full from area contractors on Monday as the cityâs leaders try to hash out a way to give local businesses an upperhand when it comes to bidding on municipal jobs.
The main point of contention at the meeting, for the council and the city attorney, is how much preference can be given within legal boundaries. The contractorsâ concern was that the preference was not enough to make an impact.
